Multi-Day Trips:

Sail Barefoot charters are designed to be the ultimate private get-away to fully relax, sail, swim, snorkel, enjoy gourmet-style food, and experience the Keys, all from the deck of the beautiful and very well appointed Barefoot. Rates are for a private charter for 2-6 guests. When you book Barefoot, you are booking the entire boat. No passengers other than your party will be aboard.

Our signature trip is the 7-day-6-night excursion customized to your preferences. As an example, many guests book Sunday-Saturday to allow easy weekend travel to and from the Keys. 5 and 6 days trips are also available.  Trips of 2-4 days may be possible and will be priced according to your itinerary goals and menu requests.

I can set the itinerary or you can help to choose our route and stops when you make your reservation. After a day of sailing, fishing, and snorkeling, do you want to spend the night at a calm anchorage, watching the stars and enjoying a delicious meal prepared by your captain? Or, would you rather spend the night docked at any of several resort marina’s where you’ll find restaurants, fresh water swimming pools, Martini Bars, and the boat’s air conditioning keeping your cabin comfortably cool? I’ll plan an exciting itinerary if you aren’t sure!

A typical 7-day (e.g. Sunday - Saturday) trip usually follows one of three itineraries:

Day 1: Arrival: You may arrive at the boat any time after 2:00pm. Depending on the hour of your arrival, we will either spend the night at the dock, or head out to our first anchorage. If you arrive early enough, dinner can be served on the boat, or you may choose to enjoy local dining – it’s up to you.

Days 2-5: Sailing, snorkeling, fishing, sunning, beach-combing, and quiet, protected anchorages each night, all the while enjoying outstanding meals prepared by your captain (maybe with your help if you are a foodie too?),

OR

Days 2-5: Using Barefoot as your floating hotel, enjoy day sails, fishing, and snorkeling excursions, but return to a resort marina each afternoon so that you can participate in the local Keys night-life,

OR

Days 2-5: A delightful combination of both. Spend a night or two at anchor, a night or two at a resort marina, and another night or two at anchor. Days not spent at the resort will be filled with sailing snorkeling, fishing, sunning, and wonderful meals.

Day 6: After breakfast/lunch, we’ll return to Hawk's Cay so you can enjoy showers and all of the resort's amenities.  Dinner is planned on the boat, but you may choose to enjoy one of Hawk's Cay's several dining experiences.

Day 7:  Breakfast aboard Barefoot, and then your departure by 11:00am to continue to your next destination.

If you choose to include ports-of-call in your itinerary, we can plan for as many or as few as you like. Potential ports include: Marathon, Big Pine Key area, and Key West. Each port has resort and non-resort marinas.  Non-resort marinas are less expensive, at resort marinas you can enjoy their amenities. And of course, Key West has its own charm that deserves exploration both day and night!

As guests of the resort marinas, you’ll have access to pools, hot tubs, bars and restaurants, as well as their bath facilities on land. The resort marina in Key West is only blocks away from Old Town Key West, Duvall Street, Mallory Square, museums, and “THE NIGHT LIFE!!” (See below for links to resorts in each of these destinations).

The Non-Resort marina in Key West is in the same basin as the resort marinas, so you'll still only be blocks away from Old Town Key West, and they do offer on-shore shower facilities and bathrooms.

*Because of the distance, 4-day trips can not include Key West. Five, six, or seven day itineraries where you’ve chosen to include Key West as a destination require that we leave Key West no later than 9:00am on the second-to-last day.

ALL RATES include dockage the first and last nights at Barefoot’s home port, all on-board meals, fuel, use of vessel gear, equipment, and fishing gear, and vessel operating costs. Dockage for nights you choose to spend at resort marinas are charged to you separately. All on-shore meals and expenses are at your own expense. 7.5% Florida Sales Tax may apply.

TRIP ITINERARIES can be changed mid-trip. For example if you didn’t plan to dock at night, but choose to do so for one or more nights after the trip has begun, I can contact a convenient resort marina to determine availability of dockage. If available, you will be able to pay the dock fees when we arrive. If you choose to cancel a reserved night at a resort marina, they will likely charge a cancellation fee. This amount can vary from resort to resort and at some times of the year may not be refundable at all. Due to the distance, 4-day trips can NOT include Key West.

RESORT CHARGES (Resort Rates as of 8/12/2012 and are subject to change without notice):

Key West:  The Galleon Resort Marina charges $157.50 plus tax per night during regular times.  Holiday and Special Event charges are $191.25 plus tax per night, and may require a minimum number of nights paid.  View rates and amenities at www.galleonresort.com.   City Marina charges $133.33 plus tax per night during non-holiday times.  Holiday and Special Event rates are more.

Marathon/Duck Key: As our home port, Hawk's Cay Resort dockage fee, including resort access, is only $96 plus tax per night.  View amenities at www.hawkscay.com.

Big Pine Key/Little Palm Island: Starts at $350 per night plus fees and taxes. View rates and amenities at www.littlepalmisland.com.

PAYMENT: A 50% deposit is required when you book your reservation, with the remaining 50% due14 days prior to leaving the dock. Cash, checks, and credit cards (via PayPal) are accepted . If your reservation is made within 14 days of the scheduled departure, full payment is required at booking.

CANCELLATION: If you cancel your reservation, your deposit/full payment is refundable ONLY if we are able to book another charter for those same dates. If booked by another party, you’ll receive a refund of the total amount paid, less a 10% processing fee. If you need to change dates, a processing fee may apply. WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU PURCHASE TRIP INSURANCE to cover unexpected circumstances. You can find various providers through your favorite search engine. If the trip is cancelled due to weather (named tropical storm or above where tourist evacuations are enforced), you will receive a refund of the unused portion of your trip cost. Trips are not cancelled due to rainy weather – Because the Florida Keys are in a sub-tropical zone you can expect occasional rain and afternoon/evening showers – more often in the summer, less often in the winter. Don’t be scared off by rain or storms – they can be spectacular viewed from the water and add to the fun!!  As someone once said: “The difference between an ordeal and an adventure is only your perspective.”

ALCOHOL: Sail Barefoot does not have a liquor license and cannot sell alcohol. As such, we can discuss your adult beverage requests when booking the trip and make arrangements for provisioning them before departure. Complimentary adult beverages are available for your enjoyment. You are welcomed to bring additional beverages of your own.

ADDITIONAL EXPENSES: All meals/drinks on shore are at your own expense and are not included in the cost of the charter. All purchases made on shore are at your own expense and are not included in the cost of the charter. Your arrival to and departure from Barefoot at her home port is at your own expense and is not included in the cost of the charter. Any expenses incurred by you in the event of an enforced evacuation are solely your responsibility. Again, trip insurance is strongly recommended, even more so if you book during hurricane season.

Itinerary:

Sail the waters of the Atlantic Ocean and/or Florida Bay. A Full-Day trip aboard Barefoot will provide you with a taste of the wonders the Florida Keys has to offer – above and below the water’s surface.

You can enjoy a day of sailing while we fish with a trolling line – and possibly catch something for dinner!

We may visit several snorkeling sites where the beauty of the Keys barrier reef will enthrall and amaze you.

And relax on the comfortable deck of Barefoot while Captain Bruce prepares a delicious lunch and dinner for you.

We are certain you’ll experience the Florida Keys in a way that will leave you wanting to return for one of our multi-day trips. Book a multi-day trip during your day aboard to receive our special “Returnig Friends” discount.

Ocean-Side Boarding: You’ll board Barefoot at her home port at Hawk's Cay Resort at 10:00am or at another designated boarding location, depending on where you are staying. She’ll be provisioned and ready to leave as soon as you are all aboard and we’ve had a moment to go over a couple of the boat’s systems and discuss safety. If we pick you up at Hawk's Cay and you choose a snorkel day, we’ll head first to Sombraro Reef, about a 2-hour trip from the dock. We can fish along the way with trolling lines.  We’ll spend as much time as you need exploring this amazing Spur-and-Groove type reef. This reef type has shallower spurs of coral and deeper grooves of sandy bottom. The coral spurs have steep sides where fish and other sea-life await your discovery! You’ll quite likely see Lobsters, Rays, Barracuda, Tarpon, and possibly even a couple of Sharks! There are giant Nassau Grouper (literally, the size of a small car!) as well as the tiniest shrimp and coral polyps. Swim with Yellow-Tail Snappers, Parrot Fish, and a multitude of other species.

From there, we can head to Coffin’s Patch Reef, which is a shallow, soft-coral forest. Here, you can dive down 3-4 feet and swim amongst the wavy Fan Coral, Stag-Horn, and several other varieties.  Dive to 15-20 feet and see rays, lobster, and eels!  On one side of the reef are the remains of a lighted marker where schools of fish congregate and wait for snorkelers to pass through them. A Spotted Eagle Ray has lived there for the past 4 years and very frequently entertains swimmers with underwater acrobatics. We’ll likely have lunch here while secured to a mooring ball or at anchor.

Finally we’ll head to the wreck of the Adelaide Baker. This is a deep dive, but clearly visible from the surface when the visibility is good. For those who can properly equalize their ears, dive to 25 feet to see up close the remaining ship’s hardware including it's mast, several spools of rigging, turnbuckles, and chain. You’ll find dozens and dozens of Lobster living inside the mast, and often sharks bask in the sandy bottom surrounding the wreck.

Late afternoon, we’ll head back to Hawk's Cay Marina where Captain Bruce will prepare a sumptuous dinner. Hopefully we’ll have caught a fish or two along the way to have as our meal, or at least as an appetizer. If not, your captain will have provisioned Barefoot for a dinner of local Keys seafood. You can relax with your friends sipping tropical drinks* while Captain Bruce prepares and serves your meal.

Bay -Side Boarding: If logistics dictate that you board Barefoot anywhere other than Hawk's Cay, we will usually be picking you up by dinghy at a designation location, and your day will be a Bay-Side trip.  Bay side offers generally smooth seas, even where there is a breeze for sailing.  We troll fishing lines and frequently catch Cero Mackerel.  Depending on weather, we may be able to attempt "lobstering" - snorkeling for lobster for dinner!  Sunsets on the bay side are generally more beautiful because you actually see the sun set on the water.  We will anchor by 4:00 where Captain Bruce will prepare you local Keys seafood dinner while you enjoy appetizers and refreshments.

Dinner will be served close to 5:00pm so that you can enjoy the meal and hopefully a spectacular sunset.  Afterwards, we will take you back to shore by dinghy at the same location from which we departed.

PAYMENT: A 50% deposit is required when you book your reservation, with the remaining 50% due 14 days prior to leaving the dock. Cash, checks, and credit cards (via PayPal) are accepted.  If your reservation is made within 14 days of the scheduled departure, full payment is required at booking.

CANCELLATION: If you cancel your reservation, your deposit/full payment is refundable ONLY if we are able to book another charter for the same date. If booked by another party, you’ll receive a refund of the total amount paid, less a 10% processing fee. If you need to change dates, a processing fee may apply. You are welcomed to bring additional beverages of your own.

ADDITIONAL EXPENSES: All meals/drinks on shore are at your own expense and are not included in the cost of the charter. All purchases made on shore are at your own expense and are not included in the cost of the charter.
